Elena decided to switch gears and become a nurse in 2004 when her father passed away from a massive hemorrhagic stroke at 57 and her own health began to suffer due to a high stress career in International Business and Marketing.  It was a brave, much needed and welcome change.  Shortly after earning her bachelor’s degree and RN licensure in 2007, Elena moved to Austin TX from Upstate NY and joined the hustle and bustle of St. David’s critical care unit in South Austin.  The hospital-based work experience gave Elena a taste of traditional nursing and a springboard for exploring other areas in health care.  Motherhood added a whole new exciting dimension to her professional interests and she pursued additional education in nutrition to be best prepared for raising healthy humans and to give them a solid foundation of strong core values.  As a new mom and a rather eclectic nurse, Elena made many interesting connections with like-minded health practitioners in Austin and became immersed in the vibrant local health and wellness community.  She became interested in muscle testing, EMF effects on health and remediation practices, ancient detoxification modalities, Ayurveda, Vastu, Feng Shui, the healing power of laughter and traditional nutrient-dense food preparation techniques from all over the world.  Today Elena’s professional experience includes critical care, private duty nursing with emphasis on lifestyle changes/education and holistic approach to wellness, home health, clinic and hospice.

Elena joined the Alive+Well team in 2021.  She enjoys empowering guests on their own wellness journey and supporting them in her capacity as a Registered Nurse and a passionate wellness advocate.  She balances her work with parenting and homeschooling her sons, hiking in nature, raising chickens, knitting and fiber arts, gardening, cooking, sitting by the fire under the full moon, making herbal medicines, caring for a cat and a turtle and dabbling in some design work.  Elena believes in magic and in creating a healthier world with kindness, consideration, inclusion and healthy choices.
