Hydrafacials have recently become very popular–and for good reason! This highly intelligent, patented technology goes by the mantra “3 steps, 30 minutes, best skin of your life”. We are so excited to bring this coveted facial to you at Alive + Well.

What is a Hydrafacial?

The Hydrafacial is a machine which uses hydradermabrasion to deeply exfoliate, hydrate, and refresh the skin. Regular microdermabrasion uses microparticles which can cause downtime and microtears in the skin. Instead, hydradermabrasion is non-ablative and works to gently vacuum and remove dead skin cells while retaining and nourishing your living cells, giving you beautiful results without any of the associated down time.

Using a 3 step process of cleansing, exfoliating, and infusing of potent antioxidants; Hydrafacial uses patented vortex technology to infuse serums deep into the skin while simultaneously removing dead and damaged cells.

It’s mainly used to address the following concerns:

  • Fine lines and wrinkles
  • Dark spots
  • Hyperpigmentation
  • Clogged pores
  • Enlarged pores
  • Mild acne
  • Oily skin

In addition to the default system, Hydrafacial also features specialty vials which can be added, infusing this potent product into the skin to optimize results for your specific goals. These include:

  • Dermabuilder for fine lines and wrinkles
  • Britenol for hyperpigmentation
  • Anti-Redness vial for rosacea and sensitivity

Building on these basic functions, the Hydrafacial system includes lymphatic drainage and LED red and blue light therapy. Stagnant lymph can cause downward sagging and swelling in the face (2), and lymphatic drainage can help to move this fluid to help to tone and even out the complexion. LED therapy can target specific skin issues, with red LED helping with aging and collagen, and blue LED targeting the sebaceous oil glands in the face and kill acne bacteria.

Top 5 Benefits of Hydrafacial

1. It’s Safe and Comfortable For Sensitive Skin

The exfoliating, vacuum-like tip is passed all over the skin to gently remove dead skin cells, while all at the same time delivering a revitalizing serum (customized to your skin type) to hydrate and protect the skin. As such the HydraFacial method is considered to be gentler and more effective.

2. There’s No Downtime

Often called a “Red Carpet Facial”, a HydraFacial is commonly used by celebrities who need to be red carpet ready with no signs of irritation in a short amount of time. With no downtime, you’ll walk out with softer, smoother and brighter skin.

3. The Procedure is Virtually Pain-Free

Because liquid is deposited with every swipe of the treatment wand, you will never feel scraping or skin pulling. There’s no needling, pinching or abrasion. In fact, many people find treatment enjoyable and relaxing.

4. The Treatment is Customizable

Each Hydrafacial is personalized based on your skin type and skincare goals.  The esthetician will completely customize your treatment based on your concerns (clogged pores, dry spots, rough skin texture, fine lines, etc).

5. Long Term Results

Hydrafacial has been clinically shown to decrease pore size, lessen hyperpigmentation, and improve skin texture and tone (1). It also helps to stimulate collagen and fibroblasts, which are responsible for long term healthy cell regeneration. This means that when you get a hydrafacial, the results carry on long after your treatment to create lasting change in your skin.
